Sports Premium
The Government currently provides additional funding to improve provision of physical education and sport in primary schools in England – The Primary PE and Sport Premium. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. This year (2023/24) we will receive £17,180
We must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of our physical education (PE), physical activity and sport provision. This means that we should use the premium to:
- develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport that we provide
- build capacity and capability to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years
Specifically, we should use the premium to secure improvements in the following 5 key indicators:
- Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
- Profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
- Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
- Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
- Increased participation in competitive sport
Accountability & Online Reporting
We are accountable for the use of the PE and Sport Premium funding allocated and are expected to spend the grant for the purpose it was provided only – to make additional and sustainable improvements to our PE, sport and physical activity provision. We must publish details of how we have spent our PE and sport premium funding by the end of the summer term (July 31st). Specifically, we must detail:
- the amount of premium received
- a full breakdown of how it has been spent
- the impact on pupils’ PE, physical activity, and sport participation and attainment
- how the improvements will be sustainable in the future
- The percentage of pupils within our year 6 cohort who met the national curriculum requirement to:
- swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
- use a range of strokes effectively
- perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
To meet the accountability requirements attached to this funding we have developed a school specific planning/reporting template (aligned to DfE & afPE guidance).
Our PE & Sport Premium plan for the current academic year can be viewed on request. We regularly review and update this academic year’s plan through a process of ongoing self-evaluation, enabling us to maximise the impact of this funding. As outlined, this will evolve into a report which will be published on this site by 31st July each year to include all of the detail outlined above (Accountability & Online Reporting).
